Still Kickin'
Well, I'm still up to all sorts of crafty goodness, but most of it is top secret. I managed to finish the diaper bag and took a couple of shots this afternoon. I've been carrying it around for a week, but didn't want to take the time to empty and press it for pictures. I'm planning some minor surgery to the lining and maybe you'll see some interior shots then. I'm really happy with the way this came out. I had been using a bag that is open on top and I'm so happy to be able to zip everything in now. I've also got an exterior zip pocket and an interior zip pocket (both salvaged from an old purse). The oil cloth on the bottom is nice because I can set the bag on the ground without worrying about it since that'll wipe pretty clean. Maybe I'll sit down and write up a pattern for it one of these days when life slows down... that never actually happens, does it?

New photos of an old project
I made this sweet little shrug right after I found out I was having a girl. It finally fits (with some room) and we got some pics the other day when the light was cooperating. I used Blue Sky Worsted Cotton in Shell.
I got some assistance and direction on the diaper bag project and it is underway. I fired up two machines and got cracking on it so hopefully I'll be toting diapers in style sometime soon.
A little aside
I wouldn't call these a full out distraction because they were super quick and easy to whip up. I used this tutorial with a couple mods (added a cuff to one pair and omitted the side seams on both). My little sister is due with her second boy next month and pants were on her list of "could use some". These might turn into a serious distraction because they were so fun to make. I think some of the flannel is destined for a girlie pair (or two, or three) of these.

What am I doing?
Yesterday I got excited and overzealous and started slicing and dicing some fabric for a new diaper bag. I was all in and got some pieces measured and cut and then the mental block hit. What am I doing? I think I jumped in with less of a plan than I thought, so now I'm trying to make some decisions and debating with myself on whether I should just fire up the machine and see what happens. Maybe I'll wait until Friday (my mom has the day off, hehe). I have plans for the ideal diaper bag in the works though, so I'll share what I come up with (which might be nothing). I'm using some oilcloth from Anna Maria Horner and some natural-colored canvas. I need to do a bit of strap hunting and check my zipper stock. Is anyone else hitting mental blocks this week? I guess we're that far into winter now. Maybe I just need some cocoa...

Your Name Here
Alas, the Coral Cutie never made it home. The loss did, however, motivate me to design something new (but it's top secret for now). It will teach me to guard hand knits with my life if I decide to risk bringing them out in public with me again.
I finally managed to get a pattern laid out and proofed and ready for download. It's called Your Name Here and there's a link in the sidebar. The banner got a little face lift too, thanks to my talented husband. Now I need to focus my attention on a couple knitting projects, one old and one new. The new project is destined for publication so my lips are sealed for the time being (sorry).
Ah, the quilt. *sigh* There's something about big projects sitting too long. It's like you have to work up extra steam to pick them back up, or maybe it's just that whole project monogamy thing. Then again, maybe it's just laziness. (I think the last option is the most likely in my case). The reason doesn't matter so much if I can just work up a little motivation, and squeeze in some sewing machine time. I don't have too far to go to finish the top and then I can try my hand at quilting. Fun, new adventures coming up!
Take a look at the new pattern and let me know if you think it needs any help. Have fun!
*ETA: The link for Your Name Here should be working now. Let me know if you're still having trouble and I'll try something else.
